Our PTA is made up of amazing parents and staff who organise events throughout the academic year to raise funds to help improve our children’s educational experiences.
They believe that all of our children should have the most enjoyable primary school experience possible and try their hardest to deliver events and initiatives to benefit every child at the Academy.
Money raised over the past few years has made it possible for the school to paint designs on the playgrounds, enabling hours and hours of fun for our children. In addition, money raised has been used to build outdoor shelter for children when using the library and during playtime.
Each year the PTA gift every child at the Academy with a book as a Christmas present.
The PTA have fundraised money to renovate our pond area, which once ready, will enrich our outdoor learning experiences. This area will allow our ODL teacher to help the children learn about animal habitats whilst offering a safe space for the children to relax and explore nature.
Along with celebrating annual events such as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, the PTA arrange an exciting Summer Fete and Christmas Fair each year. We are very lucky to be friends with Santa Claus here at the Academy, who visits us each year to wish our children a very happy Christmas in his grotto in Hagrid’s Hut.
The PTA meet at the start of each half term to plan ahead and discuss future ideas. All parents and staff are welcome to these meetings. A more formal meeting, the annual AGM, is held once a year. Here committee members elect new members, sign off accounts and agree events for the academic year ahead.
The PTA welcome new members and are always excited to hear ideas from Darlinghurst parents and carers. If you’d like to join our friendly PTA team, we’d love to have you on board.
There is also PTA helpers’ initiative, if you would like to help the PTA, but can’t commit to being a permanent member of the team. On this helper’s team you may be asked to help wrap presents at Christmas, or let us know your availability to help on a summer or Christmas fair stall. There is no obligation to any of our members, permanent or helpers, to commit to any set number of events. We welcome anyone who is happy to participate when and where they are able to.
